Caxton, give some credit to Alex Cena. He got to the heart of the matter and by a leading question got management to explicitly state that component shortages would only constrain the high end of demand but not affect Qcom's plans. Give also credit that the company is putting its top people on the suppliers; Supulzio said one of the reasons he was in Japan was to talk to the suppliers.

Someone previously stated that there was nothing in the CC about new uses for the ASIC's. Not true. One question asked about whether the company was soliciting for business in cars and pc's. The answer was the company is seeking other kinds of businesses to use its ASIC's.

Another interesting question was a big chip deal. It's been previously posted about non-ASIC users in Japan. But, Europe was also mentioned. The questioner asked if that meant Ericy. Listen to how the answerer sounded. There was a pause, almost a gulp. Then the answer was there are several companies in Europe and that Ericy is certainly a candidate to buy ASIC's. Folks, I read that response to mean that something is being negotiated with Siemens.

I think Valueman is totally right in his analysis. The base level for the future is .86/quarter. The stock price is relatively cheap when one considers fiscal 2000 EPS at about $5.50.

CR -

The conference call was worthless from the analyst question perspective. Are those guys dumb or what?

I think what probably happens is that the collective analysts don't want to admit a new gorilla to the club. If what we all here believe comes true the Q, starting as a tiny company form San Diego, is going to be one of the most profitable companies in the history of business.

It's products are going to be as pervasive as MSFT's around the world and that is before the start of 3G. How could it be that an upstart from San Deigo can challenge the accepted big earners like ERICY and NOKA. After all those companies are entitled to be huge!!

I think it comes down ultimately to a bit of old fashioned jealousy especially when the sheer size and power of what the Q is going to become dawns on them. Has there been a bunch of articles on Dr Jacobs for the success he has led and the benefits that his team and leadership will bring to people all around the world?

Best regards,

L
