Robert Rose: If you would go to my BWDIK page on the MDA Web Site and click on this text “60-Minute Interval Chart for the NYA”, you will see examples of both.

The largest formation, a bullish triangle, shows near the end of June, first a breach of the upper descending trend line, a pullback to that trend line and then a clear break above.

Next you will see a movement up and into a bullish descending triangle. It show several breaches of both trend lines before clearly breaking to the norm which was up.

The next formation is a rising wedge, which portends a break to the downside, which you can clearly see, took place.

This analysis is based on experience, but it is not too hard to get the feel. I try not to give them firm numbers because each can be a little different. <g>
