SanDisk Achieves Milestone by Shipping Over One Million Units in Second Quarter; CompactFlash Unit Sales Increase

I very bullish post today by SNDK. I will go so far as to say this is unusually bullish for a SNDK post to focus a press release purely on volume shipments.

If you hesitate for just a minute and think about the digital camera megamarket, the mp3 megamarket and the palmtop megamarket (and the cell phone megamarket, as Sam would like to add) you will see that exponential growth is expected in each. Now superimpose these growth curves and you will see a near vertical ascent in flash memory demand.

This is purely my opinion and I have expressed it openly before as excerpted below...

Barometric Readings

The chasm has been crossed. Flash memory has been swept over the abyss. It appears as if a tornado is coming. The digital photography, portable digital audio (mp3) and handheld computing/multimedia markets will enjoy exponential growth over the next several years. SanDisk stands at the foothills of these steep growth curves facing a near vertical ascent in demand for their flagship product. The inversion of the forces of supply and demand is certain to follow.

Do not underestimate the power of consumer markets. My jaw still hurts from when it hit the table on Friday. IOM (despite its financial difficulties at present) is able to move over $350,000,000.00 of product in a quarter. This is the power of a hardware utility that adds value to the extensive PC base that exists.
