Before we sink to the level of the Yahoo threads here I would like to point out my credentials

Batchelor degree in Computer Engineering
Designed Hardware for 200 MIPS RISC system back in the early 90s including impedance matched memory circuits
Worked for Phoenix Technologies for 4 Years on Motherboard BIOS

So I know a bit about the technology and the industry.

It is my honest belief that an impedance matched, transmission line approach to memory system design is the *only* way to get significant performance gains. I say *only* because there is fundamental physics involved. Rambus is the only solution available today which works this way.

Thats why I'm long...

Tom,

Any unbiased opinion would naturally oppose Intel dogma.

No, they are equally biased, just the other direction. They all compete against Intel so that makes them biased. An unbiased opinion would be a reputable company like IDC or Gartner Group or someone who doesn't compete with Intel putting together a conference. Unsponsored. Then I would consider that much more likely to be unbiased.

The Platform99 conference is like Consumer Reports being owned by GE. How many bad things do you think they'd publish about GE products? If you really think that Platform99 is unbiased after seeing who's paying for it, then you have to agree that Intel's IDF is unbiased as well. It's just paid for by another competitor in the group.
