the concept of "the liberal press" is an unexamined cliche, used to
designate a non-existent thing.


Actually, multiple studies have shown repeatedly that members of the mainstream media vote for liberal candidates (usually Democratic) in much higher percentages than the general population.

"Liberal" is certainly not a vulgar word in the same sense that "dickhead" and "dittohead"
are, Christopher, but when it is combined with the word "press" it is usually meant to be
pejorative.


I was using it descriptively. I have been called both liberal and conservative (not to mention "commie-pinko" by a member of the American Legion and "nazi" by a writer for Mother Jones) at various times by various people, so I have to avoid perjorative connotations to avoid smearing myself. It was an observation of something that IM
E most objective and knowledgable observers recognize, at least privately if not publicly.
