Joe, this argument has been made ad nauseum on this thread. INTC obviously disagrees with your take and sees the bottleneck as the issue. What is todays "typical application profile" could very well be archaic tomorrow. Have you ever complained about having too much speed or memory on your pc? Never complained about having too much horsepower on my vehicles either. Funny how I've always had to pay up for performance.<g>

Joe,

Everything you claim about users not needing more speed has been said for the last 15 years with respect to processors, memory, hard drives, communications channels, et cetera.

The history of the computing business is that you build more power than people need and then applications are found to take their place. In 1985, only the visionaries in this business ever thought you'd see live video and stereo audio on a PC. There are many, many more applications that are not yet available on computing platforms that will be in the future because someone builds a platform that can support it.

Not my opinion, historical fact.
