Hi, Thomas, pleased to 'meet' you. I did enjoy reading your original post that djane referenced, by the way. I think that we may differ on the point that, despite ISLD's leadership role at this point in the areas in which they've built up momentum, market shifts and innovation make holding such a role difficult (if not dubious over the long run) to maintain unless they, too, are willing at some point to shift in kind. Or, hopefully, continue to lead the shift. My belief is that failing to do so in response to market dynamics is usually fatal.

In so doing, I theorize (and I certainly could be wrong about this), they will have a tendency to alter their profile and strategic directions, thus climbing onto, or even responsible for creating, a new pecking order, which is really at the root of what I was suggesting.

Your latest comments about EXDS are also well taken. But I would caution that the mental images that one conjures up about global network providers' facilities are seldom reflected in the physical appearances of the office structues they reside in. But the significance of colo's today does often get overblown and stated beyond their true relative value, I'll grant you that much. Unless, of course, I was misreading you, but that's how I feel, in any event.

In another post, somewhere here in SI, I suggested that the next glut we might see beyond the much highly-debated and journalized fiber glut, will be that of a colo glut, once fiber is ditributed to all centers of commercial activity and densely populated areas in the most industrialized nations, if not around the globe. Something else to think about going forward, I think.

Comments and corrections on any of these issues are welcome.

Best Regards, Frank Coluccio
