CrossKeys - Nortel Networks Teams With CrossKeys to Make It Easier to Manage
Multi-Vendor Networks
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 1999--CrossKeys Systems Co
(Nasdaq:CKEY - news; TSE:CKY. - news) Nortel Networks Further Enhances the
Multi-vendor ATM Integration Capability of Its Integrated Network Management
(INM) Portfolio

Nortel Networks(TM) (NYSE:NT - news; TSE:NTL - news) and CrossKeys
(Nasdaq:CKEY - news; TSE:CKY - news) announced today that they have teamed up
to enable service providers to manage multi-vendor ATM networks more simply and
cost-effectively. Today's announcement enhances Nortel Networks' Integrated
Network Management (INM) portfolio to provide comprehensive network
management functionality across multiple technologies and vendors. For CrossKeys, the
agreement advances the company's multi-vendor mediation software portfolio.

''One of the biggest challenges facing service providers today is the ability to consolidate
multiple networks, technologies and vendors into one Unified Networks(TM) solution,''
said Ragui Kamel, Vice President and General Manager, Integrated Network
Management, Nortel Networks. ''Nortel Networks' INM has a long track record of
providing multi-vendor integration options for service providers who want to leverage
current network investment. Nortel Networks and CrossKeys are making it simpler to
integrate ATM offerings from multiple vendors.''

Multi-vendor network management provides significant operations cost savings by
maximizing skillsets, minimizing required resources and consolidating multiple platforms.
This enables service providers to react more quickly to customer demands and take
advantage of new revenue opportunities.

As a first step in this collaboration, Nortel Networks has licensed its interface
specification to CrossKeys to develop an ATM mediation software product to extend
the reach of Nortel Networks' INM multi-vendor portfolio. This will enable service
providers to manage multiple vendors' networks and elements seamlessly, through
Nortel Networks' INM.

''Nortel Networks and CrossKeys are working together on a product solution that
addresses the needs of multi-vendor networks worldwide,'' says Ian McLaren,
President and Chief Executive Officer, CrossKeys. ''With CrossKeys mediation
software as the mortar, service providers can build their networks with products from
multiple vendors and be sure it will be robust and manageable.''

Nortel Networks' INM is one of the industry's most advanced portfolios of network
and service management solutions, allowing service providers to manage their services
and network resources in a seamless and cost-effective manner.
