Another thing - it's not just one's own death that we mourn when we mourn the passing of people we didn't know, but the fact that nothing is permanent, everything passes. I know it's the natural order, but it still makes me sad. Entropy is a bitch. Of course, if people, plants and animals didn't die, there would no room for new people, plants and animals. And if mountains didn't wear away, there'd be no fertile plains. I am able to console myself with taking the long view, which is why I don't weep for JFK, Jr. But I did weep for Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, John Lennon and Jerry Garcia - there I wept because I would never experience any new creations by them, and I felt bad about that.
