Sorry, Mike. There is no basic Philosophical difference between these two statements.


Ah, but there is. One statement is a request (JFK), the other is an ultimatum (Hitler). And those in government early on who disagreed with Hitler were bumped off faster than you could say Deutschland uber alles.

And OTOH we have JFK's simple request, urging us to do 'something' good, to give back somehow to a country that has been incredibly good to me (greatest economy, vast opportunities, exceptional std. of living, etc.).

Well, I am ready to resume regularly scheduled thread too...
