Uncle Frank, The # of shares required by index funds should not be affected by the share price but as the shares go up in price the funds will need to spend more $ to buy the required # of shares.

Uncle, you forgot that NASDAQ counts a buy and a sell as 2 in the volume indicator. Therefore, when the volume is 4 million shares, it really means 2 million actual shares. Thus, 4.6 million shares is two days of volume not one, because 4.6 million real shares are being sold.
