I agree. I think a more comparable situation is VESA vs PCI, where Intel basically steamrolled over the PC manufacturers and add-on card manufacturers to standardize on PCI. If they can take on the PC mfrs. to define the standard, I don't see any problem with steamrolling the DRAM manufacturers. If you're a DRAM mfr. and hemorrhaging money, are you going to waste any significant part of it fighting Intel and betting on a small Taiwanese manufacturer? Doubtful (except for Micron <G>). You may still join a consortium in the event that it produces a spec that Intel likes, but you won't spend a lot of money on it.
