Chip, i wholeheartedly agree with this assessment and have pointed out the failure of MER to confirm the new highs in a recent post. on the day the S&P reached it's most recent record high, MER actually went down, just as it did in july last year.

the brokers are a proxy for the mania's health, just as the nutz are. both have had a hard time of it lately. it 's one of the warning signs underneath all the euphoria.
