Australia's AAPT Ltd. Plans A$400M
Mobile Network -Report

SYDNEY -- Australia's third largest telephone carrier AAPT Ltd.
(A.AAP) is set to unveil plans for a A$400 million mobile telephone
network, The Australian newspaper reported Wednesday.

The company has "unofficially" selected South Korea's Samsung Corp.
(Q.SSG) to roll out its code division multiple access (CDMA) network,
the newspaper said.

The Australian arm of Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. (H.HUW)
has already employed Samsung to roll out its CDMA network in
Melbourne and Sydney.

This could lead to a deal between AAPT and Hutchison to team up via
roaming agreements, according to the national daily.

AAPT is likely to announce its plans for the mobile network in about two
weeks, a spokesman for the company told Dow Jones Newswires.

The spokesman declined to confirm the details of the article in The
Australian but said AAPT has several announcements about the network
scheduled for the coming month.
