free pcs may be a notTooDistant future phenomena. somewhat like cellphones today where service is the moneymaker, isps (aol) will give away pcs predicated on long (and overpriced) network connection subscriptions. some analysts also predict this (don't have the source at my fingertips). as far as not being able to make money if this happens-- datacom, telecom and memory semis are making profits selling to nokia, ericson (sp), motorola, etc. they just wont be able to print money like intc of quarters past. rinv
