The problem with the "loophole" is that it is a creature of the imagination, not of science, and has no place in science classes. If God tricked us into thinking that the Universe is billions of years old, and the earth is billions of years old, and life on earth is billions of years old, why fight it? I say if God did it, S/he must have had a good reason and who are we to dispute God?

My $.02: if God did such a thing, I would have to consider it a colossal Practical Joke. The trouble is that the God of the Bible was never portrayed as a yuk'em-up kinda Supreme Being. With the remotely possible exception that his words to a knife-wielding Abraham actually were "Just kidding! Is all big joke, okay!" <grin>
