On the ideas thread, a very interesting article about productivity was posted.

On the Bob Brinker web site, Bob has included the book "Business at the Speed of Thought." This book does a good job of illustrating the efficiencies and productivity that result from the Internet.

So I am wondering if productivity is the wild card that is allowing the economy to grow without inflation. The measures of productivity seem to be aimed at industrial output rather than service part of the economy and may not be properly measuring these gains. Could our economy be switching even more to a service economy as a result of the Internet? If productivity is accelerating, wouldn't that underlie a lengthening of the bull market?
