Holy Schmokes!

Let's see the updated scoreboard:

QCOM: 11,000,000
LSI: 0

I agree with you now about LSI's problems in this segment.

Sheesh...

Here's a bit of comparative trivia:

The 1999 full-year units in STBs and digital cameras for the entire industry is a measly 8,000,000.

Get the feeling that Mr. LSI is on the outside of a speeding bullet trying to look in...

So now remove CDMA from the list of horsemen (GSM over and done with as well):

FC
Sony PS 1
Sony PS 2
STB
Digital Cameras
DVD
Plus Future Surprises A, B, C <g>

The possibility that Qualcomm will be the next Gorilla is a very real one. Could very well have a market cap of $100 Billion in the next five years.

<<Component shortages limited production growth and margin improvement of the Company's phone products in the third fiscal
quarter of 1999. These shortages are expected to continue and could affect the Company's results in the fourth fiscal quarter of
1999. Total MSM phone chip shipments for the third quarter of fiscal 1999 were over 11 million units (cumulatively over 50 million). In addition to substantial growth in the shipment of MSM phone chips, the book-to-bill ratio for the ASICs business was 1.2 for the third quarter of fiscal 1999.>>

LSI could help them with their component shortfall. Just give LSI the IP and place an order..........for the next 10 years.
