U.S. Energy Department Delays Weekly Oil Tally Indefinitely

Washington, July 21 (Bloomberg) -- The Energy Department's
Energy Information Administration said its weekly report on U.S.
oil inventories and production has been delayed because of
technical difficulties, an EIA spokeswoman said.

It wasn't known how long the delay would last. Last
Wednesday the report was delayed until about 3 p.m. Eastern time.

The DOE report is normally released each Wednesday at about
9 a.m. and is watched by oil traders and analysts for indications
of changes in supply and demand. It comes after a similar report
by the industry-funded American Petroleum Institute, which is
released the day before.

Trading in oil futures on the floor of the New York
Mercantile Exchange begins at 9:45 a.m.
