ROUND ROCK, Texas, Jul 21, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) --
DellComputer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL), the world's leading direct
computer systems company, today announced that it has taken a minority
stake in COM2001.com(tm), a leader in the emerging communications
server market.

Dell, the No. 2 server provider in the U.S. and the No. 3 server
provider worldwide(a), also announced today that COM2001.com had chosen
Dell PowerEdge servers as the platform of choice for running
InternetPBX(tm). InternetPBX is award-winning communications software
that runs on industry-standard hardware and software. It offers
customers a complete package of telephony and network services
including phone, e-mail, fax, unified messaging, voice over IP and
Internet communications. The InternetPBX solution running on PowerEdge
servers will be offered to businesses, government institutions,
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and telecommunications companies.

As part of the relationship between the two companies, Dell will
factory-install InternetPBX through its DellPlus custom factory
integration service. DellPlus enables mass customization so customers'
many systems can be built precisely to their specifications.

"We chose to partner with Dell based on the field-proven reliability
and high-availability of PowerEdge servers, two critical
characteristics required for communications servers," said David Perez,
president and CEO of COM2001.com. "We value the mass customization
capabilities and services that DellPlus delivers by factory-integrating
our InternetPBX and shipping it directly to our customers."

"Because this solution combines multiple communications services into
one system, running it on our PowerEdge servers will provide customers
an affordable and reliable alternative or an adjunct to standard PBXs,"
said Michael Lambert, senior vice president of Dell's Enterprise
Systems Group. "This investment positions Dell to play a larger role in
the development of the fast-growing communications server market and
represents an incremental business opportunity for us. What's really
great is that the InternetPBX allows you to retrieve your e-mails,
voice mails and faxes over the Internet and it can even 'track you
down' at designated numbers to notify you of messages waiting."

Lambert continued, "Rather than having multiple higher-cost, dispersed
systems from numerous vendors each needing its own maintenance, Dell
and COM2001 can now provide customers a single solution that integrates
all those systems into one, including an embedded, leading-edge IP
telephony gateway. This integration makes the InternetPBX running on
our servers a reliable and more easily-managed and deployed offering
that helps customers reduce their costs and simplify their
communications system."

InternetPBX from COM2001.com can be foundatwww.com2001.com.
