Barry, re processor speed being more important to surfing the net than many think, I saw the same type of thing when canning my 486 at work for a PII-233 a year and a half ago.

I agree, but IMHO the importance is this order: memory (to reduce swapping), then processor, then high-speed HD (for when you do swap and for launching plug-ins and such).

Oh, and ditch that Volksmodem 1200, too.

I always buy the fastest processor and am glad to pay extra for it. My reasoning is simple. If it saves me 25 seconds a day for three years that is almost 8 hours of waiting avoided. Would you pay someone $100 to stand in line for you for eight hours? I know I would.
