Jim Henson was one of my favorites, and I'm sure I've told my story about him too many times here. The porcelain Kermit he sent me has a place of honor in my house.

Were you aware that Henson died from a variant of "the flesh-eating bacteria"? I think his was a raging strep infection of the throat. One of the first times I ever heard of the disease. Poor man.

I have nothing against JFK, Jr, Princess Di, or any of the other unfortunates, I just hate celebrity-worship and it's maudlin excesses. But in today's increasingly common culture you have to go along with the sob-fest or the mob starts getting the gibbet ready. Being a pirate, I say nyaah nyaah nyaaah and sharpen my cutlass. Heads will roll.
