Blind man,
RE:"You're kidding, right? MII a threat to Celeron?? In the MicroCenter in
my hometown, I've heard salespeople telling customers to avoid cyrix
chips like the plague. ;)"...

Open your paper and see all the adds or E-MO'CHINES with 'da M-II instead. And heck, they give those things away if you sign up with Prodigy Internet for 3 years...like Jimily said,,,it's like a Cell Phone contract. You still pay but...

Joey,

<You're kidding, right? MII a threat to Celeron?? In the MicroCenter in my hometown, I've heard salespeople telling customers to avoid cyrix chips like the plague. ;)>

Ignoring CYRX could be a big mistake. I don't know about other OEMs but both Compaq & E-machines, the volume leaders at the low end, seem to be increasing Cyrix sales.

If VIA/Cyrix ramp up Gobi in time for Christmas, Intel could be in a world of hurt - unless they preemptively kill the VIA deal -especially given the PC133 lead that VIA has.
