I think that the sentimentality of CV did not fit with the brutal slapstick well enough. Vacation was "meaner"...Mr. and Mrs. Bridge might beat The Verdict, but I am curious about your problem with the movie, when you have time...Do you consider Fast Times better because it is more "realistic", or is there some other possible ground I am missing?...Last Tango is a contender, so I will not argue...Stormy Monday I seem to have missed. Body Double is very good, but it does not have the thematic depth of Something Wild, which is why I think SW edges it...John Hughes did many good movies. Sixteen Candles was the best worked out, I think...All of Me is great, and I like the others a lot, but they do not have the loopy originality of LA Story...I will not argue on HPD...
