In a way, yes. It was because the movie cracked me up. The line I mentioned is a classic; even to the point that "Newsradio" referenced it once...

But also, the movie dealt with so much of adolescence at that time, issues from abortion to clique combat to the cultural idiosyncracies of the time were dealt with quite seriously, in a comic form.

But that's just in the battle of "clueless" vs. "fast times". My votes go to "Say Anything", "Valley Girl", and for the grampapa of 'em all "Three O'Clock High" for best teen flicks.
