Intuit finally gets behind Apple

DJ Intuit Unveils Quicken Deluxe 2000 For Macintosh INTU

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Intuit Inc. (INTU) introduced a version of Quicken
Deluxe 2000 personal finance software for Apple Computer Inc.'s (APPL) Macintosh
platform.

In a press release Wednesday, Intuit said the software, which will cost $59.95
beginning Aug. 1, allows users to download from the Internet stock quotes, news
and research. It also includes finance planning and online tax filing
mechanisms.

Intuit sells financial software and Web services.

Maybe.

Here's what's new. Often, a first time buyer would come in and say they were interested in buying a laptop. I said the Powerbook cost twice as much as an iMac and asked if they really needed the portability.

In most cases, they opted for the iMac.

Now the laptop is only 33% more pricey than a similarly configured desktop. That's a much more interesting equation.
