The coupon thing...

It's fairly common in the industry. Everybody uses them. They generally increase impulse buying and are used to clear out old stock and make room for the new. The fact that it is on the website negates the possibility that this is an attempt to increase impulse buys. So why would 3dfx do this? I think 3dfx is trying to register the hardcore individuals that would take the time to print the coupon so they can target them for future projects.

This isn't to say that we won't see a coupon in the stores soon. There are piles of Voodoo3 2000 and no Voodoo3 3000. I suspect we'll see store coupons for the 2000's when the time for a new product is upon us.
