I think this time you sort of cheated. You said "even when they are actually overrepresented" as a statement that YOU disagreed with their assessment. If you think they are overrepresented, you must have some definition of conservative in your mind, just as you had to have some definition of liberal in your mind to oppose my statement that the press is liberal. If you don't want to use or define labels, it's hardly kosher to then complain about others' uses of them. I think you're trying to have it both ways, and you don't get to, at least not among the group of brains on this thread. <g> It's pretty clear from what you posted that you think the media is not overly liberal, but indeed that it is overly conservative. But you have avoided getting tied down to that by keeping saying you're only reporting what others say, while actually reporting your own views. Which is exactly what I see in the liberal members of the media as a whole--this claim to objectivity while exercising actual subjectivity.

You will be nitpicked to death over this. It is the death of a thousand cuts- I realize you are trying to be rational and I must say i have very much enjoyed your posts- you are trying to tread the kind of middle road I look for. But you will find the folks who argue with you over this are intemperate (by this I mean lacking in moderation, and not the other definition- should anyone decide to rupture themselves and haul out the old OED) and, further, you are trying to reason with folks who are basically unreasonable. That said I will say again I have very much enjoyed your efforts.
