Robert - along the same lines, heres a poem I wrote many years ago to one of my first loves.... ========================== ON POT Her voice was as soft as the sound of snow Meeting the ground on a dark Winter's night Her hair was like a golden waterfall With the texture of a light Summer's breeze Her eyes were the wells from which all living things Drink their fill of emotion and feeling Her lips were the perfect symbol of desire Firm, but tender and yielding I loved her But to love is to open the door of pain She loved me And my joy was like an open flower in the rain Then her mind found an escape from life And a shadow fell on my heart Now, to escape is her whole life Her love is gone, and mine is dark Your love will also turn to hate when you find How pot can kill love and rot the mind Only in reality can truth and beauty be found And you'll never find it in a smoky corner Passing the 'joint' around
