Michelle it's hard to say what they will do with the stock near term but i expect some volatility. I think a lot of people forget that Amzn has been basing for serval months now and this sector has gone through a deep gut wrenching correction, so most sellers are out. Let the day traders kill each other, i'm through trading this stock for some time... In the light of Amzn's growing pains, the metrics were not bad ;i thought that they were good and came in line with expectations.

I don't see any reason for this split... did we dispel the myth (or fact) that Amzn needed to keep the share price up to avoid interest payments

I see the reason, Amazon is trying to keep the price floor for the next three months. Split is one of his cards. The bond conversion's ceiling and floor will be adjusted accordingly; such as 156/2=78 as the convertible price and 236/2=118 as the auto-exec. top ceiling.

Mr. B is in the "show BIZ" biz.

Michelle -- The split makes no sense. This is the report of a struggling company. If there is buying of this stock based on the split, then this stock has some pretty feeble-minded investors. I don't see why next quarter should be any better, and could be much worse. This stock could get cut in half before there is anything to inspire new buying -- IMO.

Michelle, thanx for your input on shorting ARBA and its cohorts, RBAK and JNPR. I'm still tempted to give it a shot though, since it didn't announce a split after earnings. Yes, the sector is hot and float is only 5 million. But VERT also has float of 5 M and i had a scary ride from the 130s to the 50s and back to the 100s (yeah it was stupid to stay that long from 130 but i'm out, now). I'm looking for one last rally in these newies (perhaps tomorrow and Friday, after Greenspan) before the summer doldrums sink them.

Overall, I'm very disappointed in old Net leaders. This meek summer rally doesn't bode well for next few months.
