I second that!!

Management has said that the issuance of new stock will not be dilutive to earnings. It doesn't matter. So what if they want to issue another 2mm shares and up their war chest at this unique opportunity when the funds need their shares. Can't wait to hear what they have in mind for the money! You can bet it won't be in T-bills.

Geeez, cut Dr. J et al some slack! Some of these lilly-livered naysayers forget that this is the same management team that has made Q an 8-bagger since October, and we are off our all time high (yesterday) by less than 5%.

If anything, I would guess that with their new gorilla status, they are getting better advice and counsel than ever before! I for one won't second guess them.

Absolutely!!!

Spoke with management this evening...

1. .86 cents pro forma was based on 188m shares, not the thread consensus of 150m... this means 6m plus 188m = aprox 194m... the additional shares could only add 3% dilution at most. this wont even be noticed long term. (especially when 4q estimates will once again be low)

2. The company felt strongly about adding to the war chest!!!( I read between the lines as soon to be announced business expansion, maybe meger or acquisitions)( I felt their focus was Europe !!!)

3.In regards to index funds... Vanguard was adding yesterday as well as others even though "we didn't think it was official" yet... SP400 released 5m shares while the sp500 added between 10m-14m shares (no final figures on that yet)let's just say a net 12-5= 7m shares traded hands between yesterday and today.

The street (traders) may not be able to digest these numbers by AM and someone will take advantage of this. Even though this may dirupt my short term option position , it will by no means alter my long position.

The company to release report probably tonight , no later than AM

Holder since '95

Groovy Baby

<< selling to institutions which are REQUIRED
TO HOLD THE STOCK FOREVER!>>

No they are not. If fund shareholders redeem their shares (ex. bear market starts), fund managers will be selling. They are only required to keep they ratio, according to the weight of stocks in the index.

John S. Stokes III Re: "Qualcomm is brilliant"

Excellent post. Some people needs to take some deep breaths and think. Q's management team has given us exceptional returns and shown excellent business savvy. I have never seen some people do a 180 turn so fast. With the entry to the S & P there was bound to be adjustment. I think too many people (newbies) were looking for a 50 point pop like last quarter. They forget that Q was trending down 2 days before earnings were announced last quarter. Look at how the stock was trending this quarter. It was up considerably before the earnings report. We got the excellent news were expecting but too much of the good news was already reflected in the stock, and we still went up while the Nasdaq tanked. We won't even remember this 6 months from now.
