You succumb to the modern inclination to use "dialogue" as a verb. The horror, the
horror...


Random House Webster's College Dictionary (which I have in the office because it is the dictionary most quoted by the justices of the Washington State Supreme Court) lists dialogue (or dialog) as both a noun and a verb, and as a verb allows both transitive and intransitive uses.
