I guess he doubles as a bouncer. The occasional silly person does wonder in, in search of trouble. But since he watches the door and checks i.d.'s (they really are very serious about that in this town) I think of whoever is there as the "doorman".

OK OK- god I feel old-- I have never been in a club with a bouncer.
I'm not sure I've ever been in a club at all.
The only "club?" I can remember being in is the Rathskeller in DC, we drove up from Richmond- I was in college. Is that pitiful or what?
I even remember what I was wearing. that was 1967. A red minidress.
