I'll take two weeks off, to San Francisco and Vancouver. I have a sister in San Francisco and my brother will come from North Carolina to SF.

The other sister in Hong Kong may came to SF next week. She will come if her mother-in-law (94 years old) is in good health.

A graduate student will present our paper at the International Conference on Engineering Design and Automation at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. I'll attend the board meeting to decide on next year's Conference and make preliminary plans for 2001 and 2002. We plan ahead three years.

My research area is in the engineering optimization under general uncertainties (incomplete data, conflicting information, low confidence level data, unexpected machine failure, etc).

Back in two weeks.
