Check out the speed ratings (called PC World Bench 98 Score on these charts). Remember that Windows NT runs quite a bit faster than Windows 98.

It depends on the application. The P3 has a much bigger cache, but the cache runs slower than the celeron's. Also, I think the P3 has the SSE instruction set. Not sure what all those things do. Richard will tell you.
