BancBoston Robertson Stephens Raises Estimates, Reiterates Strong Buy Rating On TXN

SAN FRANCISCO, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by BancBoston Robertson Stephens, a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, CRD number 41271:

BancBoston Robertson Stephens managing director and senior semiconductor devices analyst Daniel T. Niles and digital media infrastructure analyst Arnab K. Chanda today raised estimates and reiterated their Strong Buy rating on Texas Instruments, Inc. TXN . The company, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, manufactures and sells electronic products.

"We are raising estimates and reiterating our Strong Buy rating on Texas Instruments," said Niles and Chanda. "The company reported revenue of $2.3 billion, up 4 percent quarter-to-quarter and 2 percent higher than our estimates, with an earnings-per-share of $0.80, versus our estimate of $0.72.

"We are increasing our fiscal 1999 and fiscal 2000 earnings-per-share estimates from $2.95 to $3.28 and from $3.65 to $4.10, respectively," said Niles and Chanda. "We believe there is possible upside to both revenues and margins, driven by strength in semiconductors."
