What happened two years ago:

That year SGI went all out to make the quarter look good, their salesmen pushed through as many deals as possible during that quarter. Of course after doing so, there were much fewer deals to close the next quarter and they had the huge loss that took the stock price down from ~27 to ~16 in about one day.

Anyone listening to the conference call should pay special attention to how sustainable this level of earnings is likely to be. Of course last time this happened they didn't give any indication about the enormous sales push that sucked their market dry for a while. Hopefully, some of the analysts will remember their history and ask more pointed questions this time around.
