this is what I said about year2k also
Also when I hear year2k problems, I think opposite..that most big corporations have
invested big time in new systems and programming consultants and have spent to help
fuel this economy..now that most
of big corporations have spent the money, won't that added spending
be missing in down the road economic reports..so year2k has helped
boost gnp..
I haven't seen the latest figures on how many US treasuries Japan still owns and I have read that non Americans are still underinvested
in this country..I have read the average Japanese citizen isn't invested here and a lot of non americans feel our bubble is a bubble
and they are afraid of decline in dollar down the road which would
cause them further bubbles..
re airplanes etc..who really cares except investors and airplane corps.. I don't think that helps the average american have a rise in
salary...you did hear that report that a lot of americans who make
45,000 in household income can't make ends meet..
re oil-that article said it only made up two percent of trade deficit..
as some of us have repeatedly said the year2k has helped the gnp with people stocking up on "necessities"
The trade deficit is serious unless it is true that a lot of it is
the result of US corporations buying cheap goods out there and selling
them for a nice profit here.. then it takes on a different hue although it is still bad for a lot of US citizens who can't get good raises since the corporations are using foreign workstaffs
