All the OEDs ever published, and all of the citations in them, will not convince me that an expression with such a thoroughly whiny ring to it is worthy of my use. Let others succumb if they will.

Shakespeare was a notable plagiarist, so you had better trace the origin of the references to him. Poor Will was also rather undereducated, although he had a quick wit. No college degree or even failed AB on his calling card. A little obsolete as well. Maybe I'll stick with working writers like Blue and Steve.
