Eugene -- visualize politics as usual. The political rules of the road these days are that US military engagement is acceptable to the American people only if there are no US casualities. I deplore the thought of any war, but the US has little credibility in parts of the world where leaders would be willing to put the lives of hundreds of thousands at risk to gain a political advantage. I would like to believe Clinton has lots of influence in Asia -- particularly with China -- but I have my doubts. More than doubts.
