moat,

Could someone please educate me (all shareholders) on this company's management (Dr J, etc), their background, history, character, track record.

what you are asking for is a complete due dilligence report on the company. It is rather unreasonable to look for that type of answer here when the research material is readily available.

qualcomm.com

I suggest starting with the above. Qualcomm really has an excellent website and you would be surprised how much information is posted there, including an audio of the recent earnings report conference call.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a three word (buy, sell, hold) answer. Then this thread is not for you.

Yes, you can trust everything about this company. Check the past record of Irwin Jacobs, Andrew Viterbi, Klein Gilhousen and the other ringleaders since 1960. The best evidence is the stock price since 1991. See charts.

Over to you to go read a lot of stuff at qualcomm.com
cdg.org
globalstar.com
wirelessknowledge.com
leapwireless.com

Also NextWave Telecom.

Too much to put it here. You have to do some work. Read the earlier threads. There is no short cut. This thread is not so much to answer such questions as to discuss information you and others bring to it.

moat - QCOM management

You can always get a view from the San Diego Union Trib.

QCOM senior management is split into two groups, the 'old guard' (Jacobs et al) and the 'new wave' (sulpizio et al).

Ask what the infra division chaps think about sulpizio.

Aside - before anyone flames me, I don't work for infra. Never did.
