Writing covered calls makes owning stock somewhat less risky. Can this be a factor why "this time" the bull cycle has lasted so long? Would it make the lead time between a market top and an economic decline shorter? Options are a lot more popular now than in 1987.

Thanks... I didn't know of some of the things in that article. It will be very interesting looking at Barron's the next couple of weeks... especially the call/put ratio I keep!
