Good Morning Mark, Thank you for your response. <<< That is saying God wants you to acknowledge Him more than He wants you to live a good life. >>>>. In simple terms Mark, the problem here is that you have not seen the Holiness of God and the depravity of fallen man. There is one that is " good " and that is God. What God calls good and what we creatures call good I'm afraid are not in the same ballpark. as I have stated previously, whatever good works we as humans perform , these works are still tainted with mans fallen nature. the works in themselves might be very charitable but it is the " origin " of where these works came from that matters the most. If the unbeliever( those who do not believe that Jesus Christ is Lord) performs these " works " the origin is ultimately traced back to Adam, who is the father of all mankind. Therefore these " works " are tainted by sin and rejected by a Holy God. If on the other hand , believers in Christ perform these same " works " , the divine nature that these believers have received at their re-generation is responsible for the origin of the " works ", thereby God can accept them since their origin is from His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Mark, all mankind has originated from Adam and thus have this rebellious , autonomous selfish nature, hostile to a Holy God. Don't you see that it is impossible for any human ( Ghandi, Mother Theresa, or anyone else ) to outwardly perform good works to justify themselves to a Holy God. Man has fallen, but only man can redeem man but he cannot be with a fallen nature. This is the Gospel Mark, God became a man in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and redeemed humanity from their hopelessness and estrangement. Almighty God declares by the resurrection of His Son from death, that the only way to be reconciled to God is through His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the one and only way.....................the rest of the religions of this world ,regardless of their " good works ", lead a person into eternal separation from God since they deny what God has said of His Son, " He who believes in the Son has eternal life, he who does not believe in the Son of God does not have eternal life ". May I request a favour from you please Mark?, If yes, please ask the Lord to show you your true condition as it really is in His eyes, thank you. Grace and peace be unto you Mark. Robert
