Weather Delays Shuttle, Boeing Postpones Delta II Until Sunday Thursday July 22, 12:52 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: The Boeing Company HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- A weather delay of this morning's Space Shuttle Columbia launch will postpone Saturday's scheduled Boeing Delta II launch. In order to provide Columbia with another launch opportunity today, Boeing (NYSE: BA - news) and its commercial customers, Space Systems/Loral and Globalstar, postponed a Delta II launch for 24 hours. The Delta II launch of four Globalstar satellites for Space Systems/Loral has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 25. The two three-minute launch windows for the Delta II mission open at 3:46 a.m. and 6:44 a.m. EDT. The decision to load liquid oxygen and attempt to launch during the first window or to wait for the second window will be made at approximately T-85 minutes in the countdown. Set up for remote cameras by accredited media photographers will be delayed by one day. Photographers wishing to set up sound-activated remote cameras should meet at the Cape Canaveral Air Station Pass and ID center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 24. Remote Camera Setup Photographers who wish to set up remote cameras for the launch should meet at Pass and ID, CCAS, south gate at 2 p.m. EDT July 24. Launch Viewing At approximately 1:45 a.m. EDT July 25 the Delta team will decide to load propellant and attempt to launch during the first window, or hold off for a launch attempt during the second window. Information on the launch decision will be available on the Boeing launch hotline (714-896-4770) as soon as it becomes available. If the first window is selected for a launch attempt, accredited media wishing to view the launch from Press Site 1 will depart the Pass and ID area at 2:15 a.m. EDT. Live Satellite Broadcast Feed Boeing and Loral will broadcast the launch live beginning at 3:30 a.m. EDT. The U.S. satellite Ku-band transmission will be available on: Telstar 5, transponder 17 with a vertical polarization. The Ku-band transmission downlink frequency is 12022 MHz. Telstar 5 is located at 97 degrees West. The European satellite broadcast will be carried on: Intelsat K, on transponder Ku-6H lower. The polarity of the downlink will be horizontal and the frequency will be 11,531.5 MHz. The satellite is located at 338.5 degrees West. Bars and tone will be broadcast starting at 3:00 a.m. EDT.
