Yes, I agree there is a market, but I think it's naive to believe that the media is "just giving the people what they want". They've recognized that they, by inserting themselves, into "the story", i.e. my highway protest example, can generate MUCH more interest than the event in and of itself. How many people would show up if just the major newspapers sent a couple of reports with note pads? The media is playing to the , imo, increasingly narcistic nature of people. Once the cameras are rolling it changes the reality</> at least temporarily by it's very presence.
