An analyst from Salomon/Smith Barney was on the call and asked several good questions. So, at least one sizeable firm is looking at VARL. I don't know what kind of takeover protection VARL has, but given its market potential, current relatively low P/E and low market cap, VARL makes a very attractive, low risk target.

The only negative, albeit a small one, that I got out of the CC was VARL needs a little help on their press releases. They should have indicated that increased fixed costs -- depreciation etc -- caused net income to drop while net revenues increased and given dollar amounts. Instead, Jon Clark waited until the CC to cover these points. Much of the sell-off might be attributed to people thinking the margins have declined.
