I think it is bizarre that someone would write that there is an expectation of 2.3 million users in 2003. Any sensible person would tell you that there will be quite a few more or netzero will be defunct. However, as unlikely as it seems, people did pour lots of money into divx before they wisely threw in the towel. I suppose that's the situation with most internet players right now and it certainly seems true of the north american free isps.

I think netzero and a player seeking quality companies (think walmart or amazon) for desktop branding have a fighting chance. As a consumer I hope someone succeeds - I don't want to pay for an isp again...
