Greenspan:"... capital is being pushed into USA..."

Tough being caught in a liquidity trap where you have pray that your currency will weaken in order to manage economic recovery. You're forced to encourage borrowing and selling of your currency by foreigners so it can be plowed into countries where it will net a decent return.

Wouldn't you agree that it's in Tokyo's interest to have all of those carry-trades on the yen?

Btw, did you note Greenspan's downright nastiness towards those countries who chose to peg their currency to the US dollar?? He didn't see to have much sympathy for them which seems to support his stated view that the Fed isn't going to try and be the world's banker.

Or is it smoke and mirrors on his part?
