Robert -- I believe in the power of a strong brand. When Amzn stock has been chopped down to size I will take another look. But it is still a long shot IMO because competition will increase, not decrease and it will be very expensive to be so many things to so many people. That said, I think you have a good way of conveying what they do well and how they might use it.

FWIW, I am not an economist per se, but I do interact a lot in Asia and have a bit of a feel for it -- myth vs reality, etc. You can learn a lot about a place without spending much time there, but spend enough time and you start to see it differently. I travel, on average, well in excess of 100k per year and make at least half a dozen trips per year in Asia with pretty good access to opinion leaders. Asia is changing and there are opportunities for those with new ideas. That is what makes it interesting to me. The stuff I pass on is more motivated by a desire to fill in some of the blanks behind international money movements that have some impact on the markets in general and the high fliers in particular.
