Sorry Jack, thought you were selling these things under the table.;-)

From what I've found, the COPS (Common Open Policy Server) is a web based software system for the creation & mgmnt. of address mapping capabilities, ie... mapping users or machines names to IP addresses, MAC address, or physical ports. Policies are written for specific user/machines that are automatically mapped to the lower level detail. Thus layer independent policy enforcement on 1-4. They have worked w/BAAN to allow priority of an ERP app, ie... revenue generating traffic can have bandwidth protection, or a AR aging rpt,, GL tran rpt. ect... Anyways the mapping software is the only thing I can find that appears unique, dedicating bandwidth via policies to ensure QoS. The hardware itself seems to be typical ethernet & IP wirespeed layer 3 switches. The Summit 48 stackable does have the large capacity in a 3.5" box, but the only thing I can find that seems unique is the policy management software. Anybody else can add or correct if desired. I would think that when Nbase/Xyplex releases a competing product that the policy management software would be an important component of such. The AcceleRouter was introduced as the 1st in a line of new switches, & the zero installation configuration portion of the box is patent pending & an outstanding feature, but as far as I understand, policy mapping to individual users, machines, or apps. to ensure bandwidth in not a part of the package. Again, someone please correct me if I am wrong.
